## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT CRASHED IN A CORN FIELD. (FROM .4) THE PILOT WAS DEMONSTRATING A STALL TO A PASSENGER. DURING THE RECOVERY, THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED TO DESCEND WITH FULL POWER APPLIED, AND THE MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUCK A ROCK WALL. THE AIRPLANE FLIPPED OVER AND CAME TO REST IN A CORN FIELD. THE PILOT REPORTED HE HAD NOT COMPENSATED FOR THE ADDITIONAL WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER WHEN HE PERFORMED THE STALL. (-23) THE PILOT ENTERED AN INTENTIONAL STALL AT INSUFFICIENT ALTITUDE. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO GET THE AIRCRAFT IN A LEVEL ATTITUDE WHEN THE AIRCRAFT LANDING GEAR STRUCK A STONE WALL AT THE EDGE OF A CORNFIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC98LA192](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC98LA192), Sep 26, 1998: Cessna 140 (N72929), Watertown, CT, destroyed. Probable cause: Was the pilot's misjudged altitude of the airplane prior to performing a stall, and which resulted in the main landing gear contacting a rock wall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
