## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT SET UP FOR A NORMAL TRAFFIC PATTERN TO RUNWAY 17 AT WILGROVE. PILOT PASSED OVER THE TREE LINE AT THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 17, HE BEGAN A "NORMAL ROUND OUT" WHEN THE "WIND DROPPED" OUT FROM UNDER THE WING, NEGLIGIBLE GROUND EFFECT. AIRPLANE HIT NOSE GEAR FIRST, THEN THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RUNWAY. NOSE GEAR COLLASPED AND PROPELLER MADE THREE STRIKES BEFORE IT STOPPED TURNING. EVIDENCE INDICATES THE AIPPLANE SLID ON THE PROPELLER AND COLLASPED NLG, UNTIL IT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET FROM TOUCH DOWN. WITNESS MARKS INDICATE TOUCH DOWN WAS APPROXIMATELY 180 FEET FROM THE THRESHOLD OF RUNWAY 17 AND ON CENTER LINE. BEFORE STOPPING THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLASPED. THE STRUT BROKE AT THE ATTACH POINT INDICATING FAILURE DUE TO EXTREME SIDE LOADS ON LANDING. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE PROPELLER, ENGINE, NLG, RIGHT MLG, AND RIGHT FLAP. THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE FRACTURED, AWAY FROM THE FIRE WALL. ONLY SUPERFICIAL DAMAGE TO THE WING SKIN CAUSED BY MLG FAILURE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
