## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5) ON 10/14/98 DURING A GROUND TAXI OPERATION FOLLOWING A MAINTENANCE FERRY FLIGHT, THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR FOLDED. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS LIMITED TO THE LEFT PROPELLER, LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR AND VARIOUS SKIN DAMAGE. AN INVESTIGATION WAS CONDUCTED AFTER THE AIRCRAFT WAS RELOCATED TO A MAINTENANCE HANGER. TWO HOMEMADE DEVICES HAD BEEN INSTALLED TO LOCK THE MAIN GEAR INTO DOWN LOCK FOR A FERRY FLIGHT. THE FERRY FLIGHT WAS TO REPAIR THE AIRCRAFT AFTER THE NOSE GEAR HAD FOLDED ON LANDING AT ANOTHER LOCATION. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THIS RESULTED IN THE GEAR FOLDING, BREAKING THE HOMEMADE DEVICE AND DAMAGING THE AIRCRAFT. THE MAINTENANCE FACILITY REPORTED THE HOMEMADE DEVICES WERE NEVER TO BE USED AGAIN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
