## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT GROUND LOOPED ON LANDING, ACFT LANDED ON AND BENT ITS LEFT WING. (-23) WEATHER WAS VFR WITH 4 KNOTS OF WIND. FOLLOWING TAILWHEEL TOUCH DOWN ON LANDING, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO STOP A LEFT DRIFT ON RUNWAY BY APPLYING RIGHT RUDDER RESULTING IN A GROUND LOOP AND DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING OF THE AIRCRAFT. PILOT AND PASSENGERS HEARD A METALLIC "CLINK" ON TAKEOFF FROM DEPARTURE AIRPORT. A TAILWHEEL OR BRAKE MALFUNCTION WAS SUSPECT. HOWEVER, BOTH WERE CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE FUNCTIONAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA99LA056](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA99LA056), Oct 25, 1998: Piper PA-22-150 (N7357D), Chamblee, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's excessive use of right wheel brake to correct for a left drift during landing rollout resulting in a ground loop to the right and the left wing contacting the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
