## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT THE PILOT NOTICED FAINT MIST OR SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. HE OPENED THE SIDE VENT WINDOW AND THE SMOKE DISSIPATED. SOON AFTERWARDS SMOKE RE-APPEARED AND HE OPENED THE REMAINING FRESH AIR VENTS. AT THAT IME HE NOTICED THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE HAD DROPPED TO ZERO AND THE ENGINE WAS SURGING AND OVER SPEEDING. HE ADVISED THE TOWER OF HIS EMERGENCY AND WAS CLEARED TO LAND. WHEN LANDING WAS ASSURED HE REDUCED POWER AND THE ENGINE SIEZED. THE PILOT REACHED THE RUNWAY AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
