## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 25, 1998, AT APPROX. 1615 EST, A PIPER PA-JC-C65, N90LL, REGISTERED TO MARK ASH, 1536 CARR STREET, RALEIGH, NC 27608, MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD APPROX. 10 MINUTES AFTER TAKEOFF FROM COX FIELD IN APEX, NC. THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER ABOUT 10 MIN. INTO THE LFIGHT THE LEFT EYEBROW COWL BEGAN TO VIBRATE. HE THEN NOTICED A VIBRATION THROUGH THE AIRFRAME AND DECIDED TO RETURN TO COX FIELD. UPON TURNING THE AIRCRAFT, THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE DETERIORATED TO THE POINT HE COULDN'T MADE COX FIELD, SO HE LANDED IN A FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED ONLY MINOR DAMAGE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
