## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT PILOT WERE APPROXIMATELY 7-10 MILES NORTHWEST OF THE CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA, AIRPORT WHEN THE AIRCRAFT PARTIALLY LOST POWER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT ABLE TO MAINTAIN ALTITUDE AND LANDED IN A BEAN FIELD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED NO DAMAGE. UPON INSPECTION THE AIRCRAFT WAS FOUND TO HAVE SUFFICIANT FUEL. FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND THE CARBURETOR TO BE MALFUNCTIONING. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
