A FEW MOMENTS LATER I NOTICED THE SMELL, AND IT WAS GETTING STRONGER. WE HAD A JUMPSEATING GULFSTREAM CAPTAIN IN SEAT 1A. I ASKED HIM TO COME TO THE COCKPIT TO SEE IF HE ALSO NOTICED THE FUMES. HE DID. AT THAT POINT I WAS FLYING PILOT AND TRANSFERRED CONTROLS TO THE FO. I DONNED MY OXYGEN MASK AND THEN HAD FO GOSS DON HIS OXYGEN MASK. WE PERFORMED THE EMERGENCY CHECKLIST FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEM SMOKE OR FUMES. WE THEN ADVISED ATC OF OUR SITUATION AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. WE REQUESTED A DEVIATION TO RSW. ATC GAVE US DIRECT RSW VOR AND A DESCENT. RSW HAD EMERGENCY EQUIPEMNT STANDING BY, WE LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. WE DEPLANED PASSENGERS ON THE PARALLEL TAXIWAY WHERE WE WERE MET BY RSW FIRE DEPARTMENT. DURING OUR DESCENT WE TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO NOTIFY RSW OPERATION ON 130.52. AFTER LANDING THEY ADVISED ME THEY HEARD LOUD STATIC, WHICH I ATTRIBU TE TO OXYGEN FLOW INTERFERING WITH THE OXYGEN MASK MIC.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
