## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE PRACTICING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS, N35302M A CESSNA 172, FLOWN BY A STUDENT PILOT ON HIS FIRST SOLO FLIGHT, SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AFTER LANDING, WHEN IT BOUNCED CLEAR OF THE INTENDED HARD SURFACE RUNWAY AND SETTLED ONTO THE GRASS AREA ADJACENT THE RUNWAY. DURING THE LANDING ROLL, THE AIRCRAFT OVER RAN A SERVICE ROAD WHICH TORE THE NOSE WHEEL ASSEMBLY FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND SUBSEQUENTLY FORCED THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT ONTO THE GROUND, BENDING THE PROPELLER, AND DAMAGING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY THE PILOT AND THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI99LA028](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI99LA028), Nov 13, 1998: Cessna 172I (N35302), Jacksonville, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: the student pilot's failure to maintain directional control of the airplane. Factors associated with the accident were the student's lack of experience and the road which the airplane contacted.

## Other reports on N35302 (1)
