## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT WAS ON THE LAST PASS DURING AERIAL APPLICATION WHEN IT PULLED UP OVER A LEVY BENEATH POWER LINES (-23) WHILE ON LAST PASS OF AERIAL APPLICATION, PILOT PULLED OVER LEVY AND BENEATH POWERLINES. HE LOST REFERENCE TO THE HORIZON DURING TURN AND LEFT WING CLIPPED WATER AND AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER LANDING UPRIGHT IN THE RED RIVER. AIRCRAFT REMAINED UPRIGHT AND AFLOAT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES ALLOWING THE PILOT TO EXIT THE AIRCRAFT AND SWIM TO THE SHORE. SALVAGE OPERATIONS WERE SUSPENDED AFTER TWO DAYS AFTER FAILURE TO LOCATE THE WRECKAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW99LA030](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW99LA030), Nov 18, 1998: Rockwell S-2R (N4938X), Alexandria, LA, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance with the water during the turnaround maneuver. A factor was the haze over the river.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
