## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1998, DURING APPROACH TO ROCHESTER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, N148FE, A B-727-100, OPERATED BY FEDERAL EXPRESS, EXPERIENCED A FLAP ASYMMETRY TRIP, LOCKING THE OUTBOARD FLAPS AT 2 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT AND TAXIED TO IT'S RAMP. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE LEFTHAND OUTBOARD FLAP POSITION TRANSMITTER TO HAVE SUFFERED A SEPARATION OF THE MOUNTING FLANGE AND HOUSING EFFECTIVELY DISCONNECTING THE TRANSMITTER. MAINTENANCE REPLACED THE TRANSMITTER, RESSET THE FLAPS AND RETURNED THE AIRCRAFT TO SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
