## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)N86983 EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF THE LH MLG STRUT UPON LANDING ROLLOUT AT OFFUTT AFB, NEBRASKA. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE CONCRETE SURFACE AND DISPLAYED EVIDENCE OF ROTATION UNDER A LOW ENGINE POWER SETTING. THE PIC AND PASSENGER REPORTED NO INJURY. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION DISCLOSED A FATIGUE FAILURE OF THE LH MLG U-BOLT, P/N 1-9805, AT THE FORWARD ATTACH POINT, ALLOWING THE GEAR TO PIVOT FORWARD. THE DISPLACEMENT OF THE LH GEAR STRUT ALLOWED THE MLG WHEEL TO TUCK UNDER THE STRUT ASSEMBLY AND INDUCE AN INSTANTANEOUS FAILURE OF THE LH MLG AXLE. REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT RECORDS INDICATED THE LH MLG ATTACH U-BOLT HAD EXCEEDED THE 500 HOUR REPLACEMENT INTERVAL BY 1200 HOURS. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
