## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)AT CRUISE ALTITUDE 50 MILES EAST OF ALB, THE CREW NOTICED THAT THE R/H PROP GEARBOX OIL TEMP. INCREASED AND OIL PRESSURE DECREASED WITH A FLUCTUATION IN OIL PRESSURE. THE CREW SHUTDOWN THE ENGINE. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE CHIP DETECTOR WITH A LOT OF METAL ON IT. MAINTENANCE REPLACED PROP GEARBOX. THE UNIT REMOVED HAD 1699.4 HOURS AND 1787 CYCLES SINCE LAST BORESCOPE INSPECTION. THE PROP GEARBOX IS AN ON-CONDITION PART. BORESCOPE INSPECTION IS DUE AT 2500 HOUR INTERVAL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
