THE PILOT SAID HE PUSHED THE CONTROL STICK FORWARD TO RELIEVE PRESSURE ON THE TAIL WHEEL. HE SAID A GUST OF WIND THEN CAUSED THE AIRPLANE AND WEATHER VANE SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRPLANE COLLIDED WITH TERRAIN AND NOSED OVER. (-23) ON NOVEMBER 22, 1998 AT 1530 MST, N9632S WAS RETURNING TO AURORA AIRPARK FROM A SHORT CROSS-COUNTRY WHICH INCLUDED TOUCH AND GO ACTIVITY AT CALHAN, CO. THE PILOT CONTACTED DENVER AFSS VIA RADIO TO OBTAIN UPDATED WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THE VICINITY OF AURORA AIRPARK (CURRENT AND FORECAST WIND WAS 320 AT TEN TO FIFTEEN). HE STATED HE MADE A STABLE APPROACH TO RUNWAY THREE-TWO IN AND MADE WHAT HE "FELT WAS A GOOD LANDING." ON ROLL-OUT THE TAILWHEEL BEGAN TO SHIMMY AND HE NOTICED A STRONG CROSSWIND GUST OCCURING. BEFORE HE COULD CORRECT, CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS LOST (EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT, AND FLIPPED ON TO ITS BACK). HE IS TAKING ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION IN ANOTHER CHAMPION AT THIS TIME. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^
