AT THE TIME OF MAG CHECKS NO PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS NOTED. THE BRAKES HELD. BETWEEN 0630 AND 0645 AM THE TAKEOFF ROLL BEGAN ON RUNWAY 35. APROXIMATELY 1/3 TO 1/2 DOWN THE RUNWAY, BOTH THE PIC AND THE PASSENGER NOTICED 2 EACH DEER APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET INFRONT OF THEM CROSS THE RUNWAY. ONE EACH DEER STOPPED ON THE RUNWAY. THE PIC DECIDED TO ABORT THE TAKEOFF. THROTTLE TO IDLE, FLAPS UP AND USED HAND BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN. THE DEER LEFT THE RUNWAY. THE ABORT WAS INIATED WITH APPROXIMATELY 1350 FEET LEFT ON A 2700 FOOT RUNWAY. THE PIC FELT THAT HIS USE OF HAND BRAKE WAS NOT ADEQUATE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT AND ASKED THE PASSENGER TO APPLY THE TOE BRAKES. SINCE THE TOE BRAKES ARE INSTALLED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THIS AIRCRAFT. THE ONLY INDICATION OF BRAKING IS RUBBER FROM THE RIGHT MAIN BRAKE STARTING APPROXIMATELY 70 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY FAR RIGHT FROM THE CENTERLINE HEADING TOWARDS THE CENTERLINE THEN OFF INTO THE DIRT UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP APPROXIMATELY 50-75 FEET FROM THE END OF RUNWAY 35. THE AIRCRAFT WHEN IT LEFT THE RUNWAY TRACKED SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT UNTIL THE NOSE GEAR ENCOUNTERED A GULLEY THEN TURN SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT IN A EASTERLY DIRECTION. MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OCCURED. THE NOSE GEAR FAIRING WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT AND THE PROP WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. A VISUAL CHECK OF THE BRAKE RESIVIOR SHOWED HALF FULL AND A VISUAL OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM APPEARED OK. NOTE: THE PASSENGER MR. PETTIGREW APPLIED FOR A STUDENT CERTIFICATE EE3452511.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
