## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)ON DECEMBER 8, 1998, MR. SIMON DIVER, PIC OF N941AT, A DC-3, REPORTED A RIGHT ENGINE SHUT DOWN TO THE FAA SW REGIONAL OFFICE. THIS FLIGHT, CONDUCTED UNDER FAR PART 91, DEPARTED MONTERREY, MEXICO, (MMMY), DESTINATION LAREDO, TEXAS, (LRD). IN ROUTE TO LRD THE RIGHT ENGINE STARTED SHAKING AND WAS SHUT DOWN. AIRCRAFT WAS OPERATED ON ONE ENGINE TO LAREDO, TEXAS, AND LANDED WITHOUT FUTHER INCIDENT. AFTER LANDING AT LRD THE AIRCRAFT WAS INSPECTED AND FOUND TO HAVE THE RIGHT ENGINE'S NUMBER 13 CYLINDER CRACKED. THE CYLINDER WAS REPLACED AND THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE. A M OR D REPORT WAS SUBMITTED TO THE FAA FOR REVIEW. THIS OFFICE HAS REVIEWED THIS INCIDENT AND NOTED THAT THE REASON THE CYLINDER CRACKED WAS UNDETERMINED. THIS OFFICE CONSIDERS THIS MATTER CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
