## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

IN CRUISE AT FLIGHT LEVEL 290, 90 MILES S SW MCI COPILOT SMELLED ELECTRICAL ODOR IN CABIN. LOCATED SOURCE AT LAVATORY, PILOT PULLED CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR LAVATORY AND ODOR SUBSIDED. MADE PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AT MCI, MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL ARRIVED FROM ST. LOUIS AND FOUND HEAT BLANKET FROM WATER TANK TO SINK DISCOLORED. THOUGHT THIS TO BE THE SOURCE OF ODOR, AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO MAINTENANCE BASE FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. HEAT BLANKET FOUND TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY, NO DEFINITIVE CAUSE FOR ODOR FOUND. DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE BELIEVES THE BLEED AIR PLUMBING MAY HAVE BECOME EXTREMELY HOT DUE TO AUTO TEMP CONTROL BEING ON. AUTO TEMP ATTEMPTING TO RAISE CABIN TEMPERATURE RAPIDLY COULD CAUSE EXTREME HEAT AT BLEED AIR PLUMBING AND CREATE HOT OR ELECTRICAL SMELL IN CABIN. THIS INCIDENT #CE99IGA0020 IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
