## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE AND SMOKE IN THE CABIN. PILOT REDUCED ENGINE POWER, TURNED ALL ELECTRICAL POWER, CABIN HEAT, AND EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT THE NEW CLIFF, CO AIRPORT (6V6). AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FROM CIMARRON AIR LOCATED AT MONTROSE, CO, INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE HAD DEVELOPED A CRACK IN ONE OF THE CYLINDER HEADS. THIS ALLOWED OIL TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM PRODUCING THE SMOKE WHICH ENTERED THROUGH THE HEATER SYSTEM. CYLINDER WAS CHANGED AND A M&D FORM 8010-4 WAS SUBMITTED BY THE AGENCY PERFORMING THE MAINTENANCE. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH NO FURTHER ACTION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
