## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON A PASSENGER CARRYING REVENUE FLIGHT, THE FLIGHT CREW STARTED THE NUMBER 2 ENGINE WITH THE ENGINE INLET AND EXHAUST PLUGS INSTALLED. THE ENGINE ITT ROSE TO 550 DEGREES AND THE ENGINE NACELLE OVERHEAT LIGHT ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE START WAS ABORTED. A LATER EXAMINATION BY MAINTENANCE REVEALED NO DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE FLIGHT CREW COULD NOT SEE THE ENGINE INLETS FROM THE FLIGHT DECK AND ASSUMED THAT THE GROUND CREW WOULD REMOVE THE PLUGS BEFORE GIVING THEM THE SIGNAL TO START EITHER ENGINE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
