## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5) PILOT TOOK OFF FROM MVY, RETRACTED THE LANDING GEAR AND HEARD A POP NOISE IN HIS HEADSET, THEN REALIZED HE HAD LOST ELECTRICAL POWER. HE USED THE HANDHELD TO NOTIFY ATC THAT HE HAD A PROBLEM AND CAME AROUND AND DID A FLY-BY THE TOWER. THE CONTROLLER BREADCAST "THE LANDING GEAR APPEARS TO BE DOWN." THE PILOT THEN FLEW AROUND THE PATTERN, GOT A GREEN LIGHT FROM THE TOWER TO LAND. THE PILOT LANDED THE ARICRAFT AND THEN THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. PILOT EVACUATED THE AIRCRAFT IMMEDIATELY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
