THE PILOT BEGAN LOSING ALTITUDE SIMULTANEOUS WITH ADVISING ATC OF THE SITUATION. THE ATCS ADVISED THE PILOT OF OPPOSITE DIRECTION TRAFFIC AT FL350 AND THE PILOT ADVISED VISUAL CONTACT. AFTER PASSING THE TRAFFIC, COM877 WAS DESCENDED TO FL350. SEPARATION WAS LOST WITH THETRAFFIC, CLOSEST PROXIMITY WAS 2.5 MILES AND 1,000 FEET.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
