## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS CRUISING AT APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET AGL WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING. PILOT FORCED THE AIRCRAFT INTO A PATURE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP BEFORE THE OPPOSITE END OF THE FIELD WHERE THE MAIN WHEELS DUG INTO THE SOFT SOIL AND FLIPPED THE AIRCRAFT INVERTED. MINOR DAMAGE WAS SUSTAININED BY THE VERTICAL STABILIZER AND A DENT TO THE FUEL TANK WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE UPPER WING ABOVE THE PILOT. PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION INDICATED THAT THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY HALF A TANK OF FUEL REMAINING. A FUEL SMAPLE WAS TAKEN FROM THE TANK AND SHOWED NO CONTAMINATION. THE FUEL LINE TO THE CARBURETOR WAS CHECKED FOR CONTINUITY; FUEL WAS GETTING TO THE CARBURETOR. A MAINENANCE INSPECTOR IS CHECKING MECHANICALS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
