## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 22,1999, DURING APPROACH TO ITHACA AIRPORT, A MOONEY M20J,N747CF EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF THE ELECTRIC LANDING GEAR EXTENSION SYSTEM.THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS, NO LIGHTS,AND THE HORN WOULD NOT SOUND. NO BREAKERS WERE POPPED. THE LANDING GEAR WAS LOWERED MANUALLY WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS AND THE AIRCRAFT MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING AND TAXIED TO THE RAMP WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LATER JACKED BY MAINTENANCE AND INVESTIGATION FOUND THAT THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTION MOTOR HAD AN INTERNAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE MOTOR IS IN PROCESS OF BEING REPLACED. THE INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
