## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS TAXIING FOR DEPARTURE ON RUNWAY 27. STARTED RUNUP PROCEDURES. AS THE PILOT THROTTLED TO 1700 RMP, THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. THE PILOT SMELLED AND SAW SMOKE A FEW SECONDS LATER. PILOT THEN PERFORMED ENGINE SHUTDOWN PROCEDURES AND NOTIFIED GROUND CONTROL TO DISPATCH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. FOAM WAS APPLIED TO THE ENGINE THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE COWLING. THE TOP COWLING WAS THEN REMOVED AND FOAM APPLIED TO THE ENGINE. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT LOOKED TO BE ONLY ELECTRICAL WIRING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. INSPECTOR INVESTIGATION REVEALED WIRING FROM THE ALTERNATOR TO THE ENGINE FIREWALL HAD BEEN BURNED. From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
