## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER TAKE OFF FROM OCEANSIDE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (L32), CA, THE PILOT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE NOSE GEAR WHEEL WELL DURING LANDING GEAR RETRACTION. THE NOSE GEAR MECHANICAL INDICATOR WAS POINTING BETWEEN THE UP AND DOWN POSITION. THE MAIN LANDING GEARS WERE IN THE UP AND LOCKED POSITION (NO LIGHTS). TWO TOWER FLYBYS VERIFIED THE NOSE GEAR WAS NOT IN THE UP OR DOWN POSITION. THE PILOT PERFORMED THE LANDING GEAR ADNORMAL PRODEDURES AND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT AT MCCLENNAN-PALOMAR AIRPORT (CRQ), CARLSBAD, CA. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT AND PASSENGERS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
