## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)PILOT STATEMENT ADMITS TO BECOMING OVERWHELMED DURING FINAL APPROACH INTO AN UNFAMILIAR GRASS RUNWAY WITH TWO TOWERS LOCATED TO THE SOUTH OF THE AIRPORT. PILOT DOES NOT RECALL DELIBERATELY EXTENDING THE LANDING GEAR. JUST PRIOR TO TOUCH DOWN, THE EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION SYSTEM ACTUATED, ALLOWING THE GEAR TO DROP. PILOT UNSURE IF HE VERIFIED THAT ALL GEAR WERE INDICATING DOWN AND LOCKED CONDITION. UPON NOSE WHEEL TOUCHDOWN, THE NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED ALLOWING THE PROPELLER TO IMPACT THE RUNWAY AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID TO A STOP. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. AMENDMENT: SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE LANDING GEAR HYDRAULIC SYSTEM HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH A VALVE ASSEMBLY, PART NUMBER 67522-002, WHICH WAS REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED AFTER THE ACCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
