## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, THE PILOT HEARD A LOUD POP THAT HE THOUGHT WAS A CONTROL CABLE STRIKING THE SIDES OF THE AIRFRAME. THREE MINUTES LATER HE HEARD THE SAME SOUND AND MOVED THE CONTROL WHEEL AND HEARD IT ONCE AGAIN. THIS TIME HE BECAME CONCERNED AND ASKED FOR ATC ASSISTANCE. THE PILOT KNEW HE WAS OVER AN AIRFIELD AND ASKED ATC FOR CLEARANCE. ON APPROACH, THE CONTROL TOWED CLEARED THE AIRCRAFT FOR AN EMERGENCY LANDING. AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN, MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT AND DISCOVERED LOOSE ELECTRICAL WIRING CONNECTING THE ANTI-COLLISION LIGHT POWER PACK. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REPAIRED BY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND FLOWN BACK TO IT'S HOME BASE. THE OWNER PROMPLY SUBMITTED MALFUNCTION AND DEFECT REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
