A MAINTENANCE INSPECTION WAS CONDUCTED AT THE FBO BY QUALIFIED MECHANICS REVEALING A SEAL IN THE AIR CYCLE MACHINE HAD FAILED LEAKING OIL INTO THE SYSTEM. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CREW ARRANGED TRANSPORTATION BACK TO STURGEON BAY, WI FOR THE PASSENGERS ON A CHARTERED AIRCRAFT. NO MINIMUM EQUIPMENT LIST EXIST UNDER WHICH THE AIRCRAFT COULD BE OPERATED IN ITS UN-AIRWORTHY STATUS. HOWEVER THE CREW PROCEEDED TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT HOME TO STURGEON BAY, WI, WITHOUT SECURING AN AUTHORIZATION UNDER A SPECIAL AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
