A/C EXPERIENCED POWER LOSS DURING APPROACH TO AIRPORT. PILOT LANDED A/C IN OVERRUN AREA SHORT OF RUNWAY 5, THEN ROLLED ON TO RWY 5 PROPER.  PILOT AND APX EGRESSED, AND CRASH EQUIPMENT ARRIVED ON SCENE.  NO DAMAGE/FIRE NOTED.  A/C TOWED TO G/A RUMP.  DISCOVERED THAT FUEL SELECTOR ON EMPTY TANK.
