## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT AND CHECK AIRMAN WERE COMPLETING CHECK RIDE IAW FAR 135.293. PILOT TURNED OFF 13L AND WAS TAXIING BACK TO BASE AND REACHED FOR FLAP HANDLE AND PULLED GEAR HANDLE INSTEAD. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT STATEMENTS, THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN LEFT TURN, INTO HEAD WIND, FLAPS DOWN, NORMAL TO LOW POWER SETTINGS 1000-1050 RPM WHEN THE GEAR SAFETY SWITCH FAILED AND THE RIGHT GEAR COLLAPSED. THE RIGHT PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND AND HTE BLADES WERE BENT FORWARD INDICATING POTENTIAL HIGH POWER SETTING. FLAP CABLE IN THE RIGHT WING ROOT SEVERED, LOWER RIGHT WING TIP TANK DAMAGED, GEAR DOOR DAMAGED. AN ELECTRICAL TEST OF THE SQUAT SWITCH INDICATED A HIGH READING OF RESISTANCE WHEN CLOSED, AND ALSO FAILED THE CONTINUITY TEST. THE INCIDENT WAS ATTRIBUTED TO PILOT MISJUDGEMENT AND BACK-UP SYSTEM FAILURE OF THE SQUAT SWITCH.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
