## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ATTEMPTING A DEPARTURE ON SEAWAY 34 AT ACADIAN REGIONAL AIRPORT IN A SEAPLANE, DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT FLOAT OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF AN UNCONTROLLED DRIFT DUE TO EXCESSIVE CROSSWIND CONDITIONS. WHILE TRANSITING FROM THE PLOW POSITION TO A STEP POSITION DURING TAKEOFF, THE LEFT WING OF THE AIRCRAFT ROSE DUE TO THE WIND COMPONENT WITH FULL CROSS-WIND CONTROLS APPLIED. THE SIDE DRIFT THAT RESULTED CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE EAST BANK OF THE SEAWAY. THE RIGHT FLOAT IMPACTED A SEAWAY LIGHT AND THE ANGLE IRON SUPPORTING THE FIXTURE. TAKE-OFF WAS ABORTED AND WHEN DAMAGE WAS DETECTED, AIRCRAFT WAS BEACHED. A 3-4 FOOT HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOAT RUPTURED SEVERAL COMPARTMENTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
