## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N7951W DEPARTED RUNWAY 33 AT ACQ, LOST POWER SOON AFTER LIFTOFF, AND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD BEYOND, AND SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT OF THE EXTENDED CENTERLINE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN THE SOFT DIRT, SHEARING ITS NOSEGEAR IN THE PROCESS. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE OTHER DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OTHER THAN ONE BENT PROPELLER BLADE. A FUEL SAMPLE TAKEN FROM THE GASCOLATOR, 3 1/2 HOURS AFTER THE INCIDENT CONTAINED NOTHING BUT WATER. AFTER THE AIRCRAFT WAS MOVED TO A MAINTENANCE FACILITY AND PLACED ON LEVEL GROUND, WATER WAS FOUND IN BOTH WING SUMPS. THE CARBURATOR BOWL WAS DRAINED, AND THE CONTENTS CONSISTED OF APPROXIMATELY 2/3 WATER AND 1/3 AVGAS. THE PILOT STATED DURING HIS INTERVIEW THAT HE WAS DISTRACTED DURING HIS PREFLIGHT INSPECTION AND FORGOT TO DRAIN THE FUEL SUMPS. ALTHOUGH THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN A HANGAR, IT HAD PREVIOUSLY SPENT CONSIDERABLE TIME OUTDOORS DURING A HARD, DRIVING RAIN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
