## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 04/20/1999, APPROXIMATELY 2037 CDT, N5035E, EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR STRUT ATTACH FITTING WHILE TAXIING OFF RUNWAY 36, TO TAXIWAY ALPHA AT EPPLEY AIRFIELD. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED BY THE PIC. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION DISCLOSED A DISPLACEMENT OF THE RIGHT HAND NOSE LANDING GEAR DRAG BRACE FUSELAGE ATTACH FITTING, P/N 2310053, INDUCED BY IMPROPER AIRCRAFT TOWING PROCEDURES. THIS CONDITION CAN BE CAUSED BY ATTEMPTING TO PUSH THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE PARKING BRAKES ON. TAXIING OFF THE RUNWAY TO TAXIWAY ALPHA INDUCED SIDE LOADS WHICH ALLOWED THE NLG DRAG BRACE TO OSE THE DOWNLOCK OVER CENTER POSITION AND FOLD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
