## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 21, 1999 AT APPROXIMATELY 2015 MDT, A MAUL, MXT-7-160, N54HS, OPERATED BY HENDERSON STATE UNIVERSITY IN ARKEDELPHIA, AR WAS ON A CROSS-COUNTRY INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT FROM LUBBOCK, TX, TO ROSWELL, NM. APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES NORTH OF ROSWELL THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED RAPIDLY DETERIORATING WEATHER IN ALL QUADRANTS. THE INSTRUCTOR ELECTED TO MAKE AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING ON A NARROW SERVICE ROAD. UPON TOUCHDOWN STRONG CROSSWINDS WERE ENCOUNTERED CREATING A RIGHT DRIFT. THE INSTRUCTOR CORRECTED TO THE LEFT AT WHICH TIME THE AIRCRAFTS LEFT WING CLIPPED A MESQUITE TREE BESIDE THE ROAD CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE OUTER EDGE SKIN ON THE LEFT WING. THE LANDING WAS COMPLETED WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DIFFICULTIES. FILE CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
