## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)THE PILOT REPORTED TO ATC THAT HE LOST AN ENGINE ENROUTE TO SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS, AT 5,500 FEET. HE REQUESTED VECTORS TO THE NEAREST AIRPORT; WALDRON, ARKANSAS. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TREES AND WAS DESTROYED BEFORE REACHING THE AIRPORT. INTERVIEWS WITH EYEWITNESSES IN WALDRON, ARKANSAS, INDICATED THET SAW THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE RIGHT ENGINE "HANGING LOOSE", SMOKE TRAILING BEHIND THE RIGHT ENGINES, AND THE RIGHT COWLIGN MISSING. THE STATED THE AIRCRAFT MADE A RIGHT DESCENDING TURN IN WHAT THEY BELIEVED WAS AN ATTEMPT TO LAND AT THE AIRPORT. AN ON-SCENE INVESTIGATION REVEALED EXTENSIVE POST FIRE DAMAGE, THE RIGHT ENGINE WAS SEVERED FROM THE RIGHT WING, AND APPROXIMATLEY ONE FOOT OF ONE OF THE RIGHT PROPELLER BLADES WAS MISSING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW99FA148](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW99FA148), May 24, 1999: Beech C18S (N9729H), Waldron, AR, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: the separation of a propeller blade in cruise flight as a result of fatigue cracking emanating from surface corrosion pitting.

## Other reports on N9729H (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19981107041509I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19981107041509I), Nov 7, 1998: Beech C18S (N9729H), Biloxi, MS, Minor damage. (-23) Aircraft returning to ramp after doing an airshow taxied into a car striking the right rear fender with the left propeller.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
