## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE DEPARTED PROVO, UT, FOR WELLSTON, OK, WITH A STOP FOR FUEL AT LAMAR, CO. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE WAS FLYING AT APPROXIMATELY 1000 FT. AGL, KEEPING UNDER THE CLOUDS WHEN HIS ENGINE QUIT. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE LEFT FUEL TANK WAS SELECTED, AND IT MAY HAVE RUN OUT OF FUEL. HE STATED THAT HE WAS TOO LOW TO SWITCH TANKS AND RESTART, SO HE PICKED A GRAVEL STREET TO LAND ON, BUT LANDED SHORT IN A WHEAT FIELD. ON THE SCENE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT BOTH TANKS APPEARED TO BE EMPTY AND WHEN BATTERY POWER WAS APPLIED, PROPELLER AND LOWER FUSELAGE SKIN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
