## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT LANDED HARD AND THE NOSE AREA SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. (-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT HE DEPARTED DAWSON, GA, IN A CE-182, N42278, AT APPROX. 0600 AND ARRIVED AT BESSEMER, AL, BETWEEN 0700 AND 0730 ON 5/31/99. HE SAID HIS APPROACH SPEED WAS SLOW AND HE LANDED HARD, AT WHICH POINT HE APPLIED FULL POWER AND WENT AROUND. HIS SUBSEQUENT LANDING WAS WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. AFTER PARKING THE AIRCRAFT HE NOTIFIED MAINTENANCE OF THE HARD LANDING AND DEPARTED THE FIELD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
