THE PILOT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT AND SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. POST ACCIDENT INSPECTION FAILED TO FIND ANY STRUCTURAL DAMAGE THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE LOUD BANG REPORTED BY THE PILOT. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW99LA165](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW99LA165), Jun 12, 1999: Piper PA-12 (N2699M), Panhandle, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control of the airplane during the landing roll. A factor was the noise heard by the pilot that resulted in his decision to execute a precautionary landing.
