## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING AERIAL APPLICATION, THE ENGINE EXPERIENCED INTERNAL MECHANICAL FAILURE. THE CONNECTING ROD BROKE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOSE POWER AND FAIL. THE PILOT EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY OFF AIRPORT LANDING ON A DIRT ROAD. AFTER LANDING THE AIRCRAFT SAFELY, THE LEFT WING CAUGHT SOME TALL GRASS ALONG THE ROAD CAUSING IT TO VEER OFF TO THE LEFT AND NOSE-OVER ONTO THE PROP. THE PROP AND ENGINE COMPONENTS WERE DAMAGED, HOWEVER THE FIREWALL AND AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED. THE PILOT WAS WEARING SEAT-BELT AND HARNESS PROTECTION AND WAS NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
