## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FROM PILOT ALBERT G. REACH: IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REQUEST, THE FOLLOWING IS A NOTATION MEMORIALIZING AN INCIDENT I HAD WITH MY EXPERIMENTAL AIRPLANE. ON 19 JUNE 1999 I LANDED N118AL, A NEWLY BUILT SEAWIND AMPHIBIAN EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT AT GATEWAY AIRPORT WITH THE GEAR UP. I MADE AN OTHERWISE NICE LANDING, UNTIL I WAS SLIDING DOWN THE RUNWAY. I HAD NO PULL ON THE SEAT BELT NOR SHOULDER HARNESS. SINCE THE AIRCRAFT IS OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL, HEAVILY BUILT ON THE BOTTOM FOR WATER LANDINGS, THERE WAS ONLY SOME SCRAPING. THE PROP IS HIGH UP ON THE VERTICLE STABLIZER. THE PLANE CAME TO REST ON THE SPONSON ON THE RIGHT WING TIP. MOST OF MY FLYING HOURS ARE IN COMPLEX AIRCRAFT. I WAS CHECKED OUT IN N118AL 23 MAY BY A TEST PILOT I BROUGHT IN FROM CANADA. I AM NOW FLYING WITH ANOTHER PILOT UNTIL WE ARE MORE THAN SATISFIED WITH MY SMOOTH TRANSITION AND PROFESSIONALISM IN THIS NEW AIRCRAFT. THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE. SIGNED: SINCERELY, ALBERT G. REACH

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
