## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JUNE 24, 1999, AT APPROX. 1740 HRS. LOCAL, AN ATR-72, N722TE, OPERATING AS A 14 CFR 121 FLIGHT TAXIED INTO THE RAMP AT BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT. ANOTHER ATR-72 WAS PARKED IN THE RAMP AND THE GROUND MARSHALLER AND WING WALKER DIRECTED THE CAPTAIN INTO HIS PARKING SPOT. WHILE TAXIING THE WING WALKER ERRED IN HIS ESTIMATION OF THE AVAILABLE WING CLEARANCE, AND DIRECTED THE CAPTAIN TO CONTINUE TAXIING WHEN HE SHOULD HAVE HAD THE PLANE STOP. THE ATR-72 RIGHT WING TIP NAVLIGHT MADE CONTACT WITH THE PARKED ATR-72'S LEFT WINGTIP, THE NAVLIGHT LENS COVER ON THE MOVING ATR-72 WAS DAMAGED BUT THERE WAS NO FURTHER DAMAGE. BOTH AIRPLANES WERE INSPECTED AND THE PART WAS REPLACED. THIS WA NOT A PILOT OR A CAPTAIN ERROR BUT RATHER A GROUND PERSONNEL ERROR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
