## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N73262 WAS HOLDING SHORT OF RUNWAY 21 AT SANTA MONICA AIRPORT (SMO) AWAITING AN IFR RELEASE. N2707B WAS BEHIND N73262 AWAITING A VFR DEPARTURE. THE SMO ATCT CLEARED N2707B FOR TAKEOFF AND DURING THE REPOSITIONING OF N2707B, THE RIGHT HAND WING TIP OF N2707B HIT THE UPPER PORTION OF THE RUDDER ON N73262. BOTH AIRCRAFT WERE TAXIIED TO BILL'S AIR CENTER AND IT WAS DETERMINDE THAT N73262 WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE RUDDER PRIOR TO FLIGHT. N2707B WAS CLEARED FOR FLIGHT WITH A FEW SMALL SCRATCHES. STATEMENT BY PILOT OF N2707B TO BILL'S AIR CENTER INDICATED THAT HE WAS IN A HURRY TO DEPART.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
