## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT LANDED, RIGHT BRAKES GRABBED SENDING ACFT OFF EDGE OF RWY INTO GRASS, LOCAL AUTHORITIES RESPONDED AND REPORTED NO INJURIES TO TWO OCCUPANTS. (-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER THE AIRPLANE LANDED, THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR WHEEL BRAKE SEIZED. THE AIRPLANE THEN VEERED TO THE RIGHT, AND WENT OFF THE RUNWAY. THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR BROKE OFF AT THE UPPER ATTACHMENT HOLE FOR THE STEP, AND THE AIRPLANE'S LEFT WING IMPACTED THE GROUND CAUSING THE OUTER PORTION OF THE WING TO BEND UPWARD. THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR FAILED DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF SIDE LOAD THAT WAS PLACE ON IT. ALSO, THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DUE TO EXCESSIVE BRAKING ACTION OF THE RIGHT BRAKE. (.4) THE AIRPLANE GROUND-LOOPED AND VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY. WINDS WERE VARIABLE, AT 5 KNOTS, AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF BRAKE MALFUNCTION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC99LA166](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC99LA166), Jul 5, 1999: Cessna 140 (N72992), Beckley, WV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of aircraft control during the landing roll, which resulted in an inadvertent ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
