## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT LOST POWER ON TAKE-OFF, CRASH-LANDED IN A FIELD, AND FLIPPED OVER, OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES ARE UNKNOWN. (-23)ON JULY 7, 1999, AT 1400 CDT, CESSNA, 150D, N7660U, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING A FORCED LANDING FOLLOWING A PARTIAL POWER LOSS AFTER TAKE-OFF FROM MIKE WILSON FIELD, POCAHONTAS, ARKANSAS. THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT STATED THAT HE SUSPECTED CARBURETOR ICE, ACTIVED THE CARB HEAT CONTROL AND THE CABLE CONTROL PULLED OUT OF THIS INSTRUMENT PANEL. INVESTIGATION REVEALED AN UNAUTHORIZED BOLT WAS USED TO CONNECT THE CABLE TO CARBURETOR CONTROL LEVER. EACH TIME THE CARB CABLE WAS USED, THE CONNECTING END WAS BENT AND STRAIGHTENED CAUSING METAL FATIGUE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW99LA185](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW99LA185), Jul 7, 1999: Cessna 150M (N7660U), Pocahontas, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the carburetor heat control cable which resulted in a partial loss of engine power during initial takeoff climb. A factor was the lack of suitable terrain for the forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
