## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON THURSDAY, JULY 8, 1999 AT 0457 LOCAL, A FEDERAL EXPRESS B727-227, N491FE, SHUT DOWN THE #3 ENGINE DUE TO A LOW PRESSURE FILTER LIGHT. A LANDING AT THE ROCHESTER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WAS MADE WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION BY MAINTENANCE, THE #3 ENGINE OIL SCREEN WAS FOUND TO HAVE A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF METAL CONTAMINATION. THE FILTER WAS REPLACED AND THE ENGINE RUN WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF CONTAMINATION FOUND. LOCAL MAINTENANCE, SUPPORTED BY TWO MECHANICS FROM BUFFALO, NY AND ONE FROM CLEVELAND, REPLACED THE ENGINE ON 7/9/99. THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN RETURNED TO SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
