## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 07, 1999 AT 0925 EDT A BELL BHT 407 HELICOPTER N407LR WHILE CONDUCTING A REPOSITION MANEUVER FROM A HOVER, STRUCK THE LOWER VERTICAL FIN ON A FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOX AT THE PROVIDNECE HOSPITAL HELICOPTER PAD, COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA. THE STRIKE PRODUCE A 1 1/4" TEAR ON THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER OF THE VERTICAL FIN LEADING EDGE CAP. THE DMAGE DETERMINED NOT TO BE INA STRUCTURAL PART OF THE FIN AND WAS CONSIDERED TO BE MINOR DAMAGE. NO OTHER DMAGES WERE SUSTAINED TO THE HELICOPTER. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT. THE FAA WAS NOTIFIED ON 10-06-99 FROM AN ANONYMOUS SOURCE. AN INVESTIGATION WAS CONDUCTED THE SAME DAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
