## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. GERALD BASIL, AN UNCERTIFICATED PILOT, RECENTLY PURCHASED N4096Y, AN EXP. TITAN TORNADO, AND WAS ATTEMPTING HIS FIRST FLIGHT IN THE AIRCRAFT. ON TAKE OFF, MR. BASIL LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, EXITED THE RUNWAY, AND STRUCK A RUNWAY LIGHT. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT INCLUDED A TORN GEAR AND DAMAGE TO THE LEADING EDGE OF ONE WING. MR. BASIL STATED TO FSDO PERSONNEL, THAT HE WAS NOT A RATED PILOT BECAUSE HE COULD NOT OBTAIN A MEDICAL CERTIFICATE BASED ON ANTI-DEPRESSANT MEDICATION HE WAS TAKING. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OUR OFFICE HAS BEEN UNABLE TO RE-CONTACT MR. BASIL TO FULLY COMPLETE THIS FORM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
