## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF WAS FROM A GRASS SURFACED, PRIVATE AIRPORT, FROM WHICH THE PILOT HAD NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE. HE ELECTED TO UTILIZE THE LAST 1100 FT., APPROX., OF THE TOTAL 1900 FT. LENGTH AVAILABLE BECAUSE HE CONSIDERED THE UNUSED PORTION AS BEING TOO ROUGH. HIS CALCULATED TAKEOFF DISTANCE WAS APPROX. EQUAL TO THE RUNWAY LENGTH TO BE USED, GIVEN THE A/C WEIGHT WITH ONE PASSENGER AND HIGH FUEL LOAD. HE ELECTED NOT TO DISPLOY WING FLAPS, THOUGH THE A/C FLIGHT MANUAL INDICATES THAT THEIR USE MAY BE USED FOR MINIMUM GROUND RUNS. THE PILOT STATED HE BECAME AIRBORNE BEFORE STRICKING A BARBED WIRE FENCE AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY, AFTER WHICH HE ABORTED THE TAKEOFF.
