## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. DAVID LELAND STATED TO ME THAT HE WAS FLYING TO WEXFORD COUNTY AIRPORT TO TAKE A CHECK RIDE FOR HIS PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE. UPON LANDING ON RUNWAY 07 MR. LELAND STATED THAT THE TAIL WOULD NOT COME DOWN WHEN THE MAIN GEAR TOUCHED DOWN. AFTER TOUCHING DOWN, THE AIRCRAFT STARTED VEERING RIGHT AND LIFTED OFF THE GROUND AT WHICH TIME MR. LELAND STATED HE TURNED THE YOKE HARD LEFT. AT THIS TIME THE AIRCRAFT TURNED LEFT AND TOUCHED DOWN AGAIN HARD AND BROKE OFF THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED SKIDDING OFF TO THE LEFT UNTIL IT RESTED IN THE GRASS ABOUT FOUR FEET ON THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY.

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19850721032809A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19850721032809A), Jul 21, 1985: Cessna 120 (N2785N), Hart, MI, Substantial damage. Out of fuel on takeoff, restarted on other tank but aborted. Landed, swerved off runway side and nosed over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
