## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON AUGUST 12, 1999, JERRY N. CARMICLE, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ,WAS FATALLY INJURED AS THE RESULT OF A PARACHUTE JUMP. HE LANDED IN A BEAN FIELD APPROX. ONE-HALF MILE FROM BALDWIN FIELD, QUINCY, IL. MR. CARMICLE WAS NOT REPORTED MISSING AND WAS NOT FOUND FOR SEVERAL HOURS. HE DIED OF INJURIES SUFFERED FROM IMPACT WITH THE GROUND. AN INSPECTION OF THE PARACHUTE REVEALED NO DISCERABLE MALFUNCTION OR PROBLEM. THE MAIN CANOPY WAS OUT AND THE BRAKE TOGGLES WERE UNSTOWED. THE EXACT TIME MR. CARMICLE MADE THIS JUMP COULD NOT BE ESTABLISHED EXCEPT THAT IT WAS DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS. THE WINDS DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS WERE APPROX. 12 TO 15 KNOTS WITH GUSTS FROM 16 TO 18 KNOTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
